Nach unserem musikalischen Nachmittag in 'Ein Haus für unsere Freundschaft' in Hemelingen erreichte Marieluise Beck eine Nachricht aus Kapstadt, von der südafrikanischen Sängerin OLGA BOMA:
Dear Marieluise Beck
I would like to take you back to my memories of the Berlin trip together with Each One Teach One. Led By Anne Schmeckies. A gift from the Green Party indeed. Then meeting you at the end of our trip was the most enlightening moment. Speaking with passion you took your time and educated us young people about the values of knowing our own history. And most of all knowing about our political parties and how important it is to mantain good relationships.
Then again you impressed me with your work. At the Ein Haus Für Unsere Freundschaft's One World Our Friends Your Voice project. In a room full of women and children, a young woman myself included. Each sharing talents and wisdom. I can't stop myself from saying that I'm very impressed with the Green Party's behaviour. A party that dedicates it's self to citizen participation ensuring that every one makes a valuable contribution to this democratic institution. A vital step in really understanding what it means to be a citizen in a democratic country.
Young people often argue that it is really difficult to stay intouch with representatives of political parties. Well that is the case in South Africa where I'm from. Looking at the work you do for the Green Party and the very significant role you play in society. I can't help but wish there were many more individuals like you. Who dedicate their time to ensure a sustainable way of life. Where all can contribute and make use of ressources available to them without forgetting the genarations that will follow after them.
I would like to thank you for this valuable lesson. And I hope to use these examples in ensuring a better environment for me and other young women like me in South Africa. Most of all hoping that 2011 will grant you more strenght and motivation to continue the good work that you do.
THANK YOU!
